Astronaut Space Vehicle Glass Christmas Ornament

This is what the future looked like before everything became sleek and sensible. A tiny astronaut sitting inside a bright red space vehicle with a bubble dome, caterpillar tracks and enough buttons, lights and glitter to suggest something very important is happening.

It has a brilliant retro-futurist feel, with flashes of turquoise, pink, orange and lime green against the metallic red body. The little astronaut inside may be our favourite bit, sitting happily at the controls in a silver-trimmed space suit while the whole machine looks ready to trundle off across an unexplored planet.

Made using traditional mouth-blown glass techniques, each ornament is individually hand painted and finished by hand. Metallic paint, glitter and the clear glass dome give it loads of detail from every angle, with small variations between pieces as part of the handmade finish.

Ready to hang with a cord and supplied with a gift tag, it’s a brilliant Christmas present for space-obsessed children, sci-fi fans, retro futurism lovers and anyone whose tree could use its own lunar exploration vehicle.
