Brigitte Tanaka Stained Glass Pouch

The Bijouterie Pouch is inspired by the beautiful old stained-glass signs once found on Parisian jewellery shops. Brigitte Tanaka has recreated one in embroidery, right down to the deep blue border, black leading and wonderfully old-fashioned BIJOUTERIE lettering.

At the centre sits a gold ring set with a rich blue stone, embroidered onto sheer white organza and framed in red, blue and black. The colours are gorgeous together, and the gold thread on the ring gives it just the right amount of shine.

It has the feel of something discovered while wandering around Paris – one of those old shopfront details that you stop to look at because they simply don’t make them like that anymore. Translated into organza, all those stained-glass lines and jewel-like colours make perfect sense.

And, obviously, there’s something rather pleasing about keeping your jewellery inside a pouch that looks like a tiny Parisian jewellery shop window.
