Paris in a candle. Not the Eiffel Tower and souvenir shops version, but the Paris of beautiful old apartment buildings, blue enamel street numbers, tiny cafés and people who somehow manage to look immaculate while doing absolutely nothing.

Boulevard de la Bougie Parfumée by Wary Meyers takes its inspiration from those unmistakable Parisian streets, with a scent that's every bit as good as the packaging. Black tea and bergamot give it a fresh, slightly bitter opening, followed by neroli, dark cassis and oud. It's sophisticated without being overly perfumed, with a warmth that makes you want to settle in somewhere lovely and stay for the afternoon.

The soft-touch ceramic jar is particularly good, inspired by the famous blue and white enamel number plaques found on Parisian buildings. There's even a French number sticker included in the box, either 70 or 74, so you can add your own little piece of Paris to the other side of the jar. A detail that makes me love it even more.

Hand-poured in small batches at the Wary Meyers studio in Maine, USA, using 8 oz of paraffin wax and presented in a beautifully illustrated gift box. Approximate burn time of 45 hours.
