Black Spotted Kitten Square Safety Matches

This cat looks like it has somewhere much more important to be.

Archivist’s Black Spotted Kitten square matchbox is illustrated by Enikő, with a white and black spotted cat sitting very neatly against a deep black background. Around its neck is a tiny orange neckerchief, which somehow gives it the air of someone who has dressed specifically for the occasion. The little stars and hand-drawn details around it make the whole thing even better.

Inside are 125 safety matches, so this is a properly useful box rather than purely something decorative. Keep it next to candles, by the fireplace or wherever you usually need a match — although preferably somewhere you can actually see the illustration.

The large square format is one of my favourite things about Archivist matches. It turns something completely ordinary into an object you want sitting out on a shelf or coffee table.

Also an extremely good little present for a cat person. Particularly one whose own cat has a similarly questionable sense of self-importance.
