Le Bon Shoppe Black Soft Jersey Henley Dress

This is such a good black dress. Long, loose and deliberately simple, with that little row of metal snaps at the neck doing just enough to stop it feeling like a giant T-shirt.

The Henley Dress is cut from Le Bon Shoppe’s soft cotton jersey, with a dropped shoulder, long sleeves and a straight shape that falls all the way down without pulling in at the waist. There’s plenty of fabric, but because the jersey is soft and drapey rather than stiff, it hangs beautifully. A side split breaks up the length and makes it much easier to move around in too.

The Henley neckline is probably my favourite bit. Wear it completely closed for that clean column of black, or undo a couple of snaps and the whole thing feels different. And because the shape is so simple, shoes can take it wherever you want — trainers, Birkenstocks, ballet flats, boots.

Made in South Korea from soft cotton jersey. Garment dyed and washed, so slight variations in colour and fit are part of the finish.
