Tom & Boy Seersucker Dress

A dress that looks like it belongs in an old family photograph, somewhere between a 1970s childhood wardrobe and a vintage French school uniform. Tom & Boy's Seersucker Dress is full of lovely little details, from the softly crinkled fabric to the muted green, charcoal and rusty red check.

Part of the Toy Department AW26 collection, inspired by the playful world of Charles and Ray Eames, it's a wonderful example of how Tom & Boy bring vintage references into children's clothing without losing their sense of fun.

The seersucker fabric has a naturally puckered texture, with a loose, smock-like shape, gently gathered across the chest and falling into a relaxed skirt. A little ruffle runs around the neckline, echoed at the cuffs, while a large patch pocket carries the collection's illustrated Toy Department label.

The muted green check looks fantastic with unexpected colours. In the AW26 campaign, it's worn with a fuzzy pink knitted bonnet, knee-high socks and chunky shoes, which is exactly the sort of styling I love from this brand.

Wear it with tights and a cardigan through winter, or layer it over a roll-neck when it gets colder. There's plenty of room in the shape for layering without losing that lovely silhouette.
