Becksöndergaard Salsa Red Grid Patterned Nylona Mittens

These are good. Proper winter mittens, but the Salsa Red and white grid makes them feel much more Becksöndergaard than standard ski gear. The checked pattern runs across the padded outer side, while the palm is kept mostly solid red with just a small patterned panel.

They have a softly padded, quilted construction with elasticated gathering through the hand and around the wrist, so they sit securely without feeling too rigid. The longer cuff gives you a decent bit of coverage too – particularly useful when you’re trying to avoid that annoying strip of bare wrist between glove and coat.

I really like the mix of something quite technical-looking with such a simple, almost hand-drawn grid. The bright red is brilliant for winter and the white stitching gives it just enough contrast without making the pattern fussy.

Warm, practical and properly substantial, these are the mittens for anyone who wants all the usefulness of a padded winter glove, but would rather not look like they’re heading off on a school ski trip.
