Strike it Lucky Square Matchbox

Strike it lucky. Although judging by this cowboy, luck might have very little to do with it.

Archivist Gallery's Strike It Lucky Matches feature a mysterious cowboy in a wide-brimmed hat, with a cigarette in one hand and a lasso in the other. The red polka-dot shirt is an excellent choice, particularly against that big metallic gold sun. It's part Wild West, part old-fashioned playing card, with just enough attitude to make you wonder what he's been up to.

The illustration is by Saint No, whose distinctive style gives this matchbox a lovely vintage feel without looking like something you'd find in an actual antique shop. The red, black and gold colour combination is particularly good, and the little details make it worth keeping out on display rather than hiding it in a drawer.

A great gift for anyone who appreciates unusual illustration, cowboy imagery or a good-looking box of matches. Pair it with a candle, leave it on the mantelpiece or give it to someone who could do with a little luck.

Although I wouldn't necessarily trust this particular cowboy to bring it.
