A mid-century bookshelf, three shelves deep, packed with illustrated spines — "You Are My Sunshine", "Teddy Bears", "The Best Lullabies", "Nursery Rhymes", "The Big Book of Tiny Creatures", "Peek-A-Boo" — each one drawn in mustard, coral, cream and black with the graphic warmth of a vintage Penguin cover. A rubber duck sits on the middle shelf. A small fern in a dark bowl anchors the bottom. The whole thing rewards time spent reading it.
The middle shelf has a trick: a tiny yellow book labelled "A New Bundle of Joy" opens up to read "So Happy for You" inside — a small, well-executed detail that makes the card worth passing across the table rather than just propping on a shelf.
From The Regional Assembly of Text, a much-loved independent stationery studio based in Vancouver. Blank inside, 4¼ x 5½ inches, comes with a white envelope in an eco-sleeve. The sort of card that gets kept, and eventually ends up in a box of things worth keeping.
