Brigitte Tanaka Watch Handles Pouch

The Watch Handles Pouch is a brilliant little play on a classic wristwatch, embroidered across sheer bright orange organza. The black strap runs right around the pouch, complete with white stitching and a beautifully detailed watch face at the centre.

The combination of orange, black and white is so good, particularly against the transparency of the organza. The watch face is tiny and intricate, with gold embroidery around the edge and little red details on the dial, while the oversized strap gives the whole pouch its character.

The strap also doubles as a handle, turning the watch into more than just decoration and making this a lovely little clutch as well as a zipped pouch.

There’s a lot of detail here, but the idea itself is wonderfully simple. Take a familiar object, change its proportions and turn it into something completely different. It’s exactly the sort of wit Brigitte Tanaka does so well, and the orange makes this one particularly good.
