Retro Roly-Poly Doll White XL

Those enormous blue eyes, the perfectly curled orange fringe and the tiny red lips. This traditional Polish roly-poly baby has the sort of face you might remember from a childhood toy cupboard, even if you're quite certain you've never seen one before.

Dressed in white with a deep raspberry-red bonnet, a scalloped pink collar and two bright yellow buttons, this little character is particularly lovely. The painted flowers on either side give it an almost folk-art quality, while those extraordinary eyes seem to be permanently watching something just out of sight.

Known as a Nevalyashka, this classic tumbler toy has a rounded, weighted base that makes it impossible to keep knocked over. Give it a gentle push and it rocks from side to side before returning to its upright position, ready for another go.

Made in Poland, these traditional wobbling dolls have been entertaining children since the 1960s. They're wonderfully simple toys, but it's their distinctive faces and old-fashioned styling that make them so appealing.
