France meets Japan in the most literal Brigitte Tanaka way. The FR/JP Bag celebrates the two nationalities behind the Parisian design duo, with the French tricolore and Japanese Hinomaru embroidered onto their signature sheer white organza.

It’s a little portrait of Brigitte Tanaka itself: Brigitte Giraudi is French, Chieko Tanaka is Japanese, and the meeting of those two cultures has always been at the heart of what they create. Here, they’ve made that story the bag.

And because nothing is ever quite as it seems with Brigitte Tanaka, the flags aren’t simply embroidered decoration. Each one is a pocket, with the French flag opening across the top and the Japanese flag tucked neatly beneath.
