Seggiano’s Chocolate Covered Torrone is handmade in the Sicilian hilltop town of Giarratana by a fourth-generation torrone maker who still works the traditional way. Toasted almonds are folded through whipped egg whites and slow-melted honey, cooked patiently until the texture hits that sweet spot between firm and yielding.
Each bar is cut by hand, then coated in a layer of rich dark chocolate that gives a clean snap before you reach the nougat beneath. The chocolate isn’t overly bitter; it simply steadies the sweetness of the honey and lifts the toasted nut flavour, adding depth rather than drama.
The result is satisfyingly textural — crunchy almonds, gentle chew, glossy chocolate finish. Naturally gluten-free and made in small batches, without industrial shortcuts.
Break into shards to serve with coffee, or keep a bar in the cupboard for when only something properly sweet will do. A classic Sicilian confection, balanced and beautifully made.
