Sorry This Card Is Late Greeting Card

Finally, a belated birthday card that doesn't insult everyone's intelligence with an excuse about the post.

You forgot. Or you remembered, thought “I must get them a card”, immediately became distracted by something completely unrelated and resurfaced nine days later with the horrible realisation that you had, in fact, done absolutely nothing.

It happens.

“Sorry this card is late because of who I am as a person” takes full responsibility without suggesting that you'll behave any differently next year. Which feels important. There will be no promises about diaries, reminders or becoming one of those people who buys birthday cards three weeks in advance. We all know how this ends.

Send it late, obviously. Anything else would undermine the entire concept.
