David Hockney Cut and Make Puppet

David Hockney in paper puppet form. Which, frankly, is reason enough for us.

This cut-out-and-make puppet takes one of Britain’s most recognisable artists and turns him into a brilliantly simple little art project. Printed onto substantial 350gsm card, each piece is cut out and joined together using the small brass split pins included, creating articulated arms and legs that can be moved and posed once he’s assembled.

Finished, he measures approximately 32cm tall, so this isn’t a tiny paper doll either. There’s enough scale to make the cutting and construction satisfying, and the finished Hockney is absolutely worthy of staying on display.

It’s a clever way of introducing children to an artist they’ll almost certainly encounter again, without making the whole thing feel remotely like homework. Equally, there is no requirement whatsoever to give this to a child. Art-school friends, Hockney obsessives and people with excellent desks are all fair game.

Made from FSC-certified cardstock and presented in a recyclable polypropylene sleeve, with everything you need to put him together included.
