Konges Sløjd Stripe Como Basic Newborn Onesie

A tiny striped onesie is very hard to resist, particularly when the stripe is this good. Soft cream with fine blue lines, finished with the smallest mustard yellow lemon on the chest. It has that slightly French baby look without going anywhere near twee.

The wrap shape is especially good for newborns. It opens across the front and fastens with poppers down the side and leg, so there’s no need to pull anything over their head and you can get right in there for changes. Much easier when they’re very small and not remotely interested in cooperating.

It’s made from soft organic cotton with a little elastane for stretch, with long sleeves and full-length legs. Comfortable enough for sleeping in, but I think it’s far too nice to think of purely as a sleepsuit.

This is exactly the sort of newborn piece I like: simple, practical and really lovely to look at. The stripe makes it feel quite classic, then that tiny lemon stops it feeling too sensible.
