Pink & Blue Birthday Cake Greeting Card

A birthday cake with excellent taste in tablecloths.

Three candles sit on top of a gloriously mismatched little cake: pink checks above, blue and brown checks below, all on a warm cream background. It has that cut-paper, collage-y feel we’re very fond of — simple shapes, slightly odd proportions and a colour combination that makes the whole thing feel much more interesting than your standard balloons-and-confetti birthday card.

“Birthday wishes” is handwritten underneath, keeping things nicely open-ended. No age, no big declaration, no joke that only works once. Just a really good-looking birthday card for pretty much anyone.

The brown kraft envelope works particularly well with all those soft pinks, blues and rusty browns, and means it looks just as good before it’s even opened.

For the friend who notices a good colour combination. Or anyone who deserves cake.
