Nutty, soft and generously coated, this Pistachio & Chocolate Covered Torrone layers flavour the slow Sicilian way.
Handmade in the hilltop town of Giarratana by a fourth-generation torrone maker, it starts with a classic almond and honey nougat base. Toasted almonds are folded through whipped egg whites and slow-melted honey, then enriched with roasted pistachios (12%) for deeper flavour and a gentle green nuttiness that runs through each bite.
Once set, the bar is coated in pistachio chocolate (20%), adding a smooth, buttery finish that melts cleanly against the chewy nougat beneath. The contrast works quietly: soft honeyed sweetness, proper nut crunch, then that creamy pistachio layer bringing everything together.
Slow-cooked, hand-cut and made in small batches, it’s naturally gluten-free and rooted firmly in traditional method rather than shortcuts.
Slice into neat pieces to serve with coffee, or break into rough shards and pass around the table. A Sicilian confection that leans fully into pistachio — and does it well.
