Confetti Pelino Sicilia Sugared Almonds

Sugared almonds are a serious business in Italy, and Confetti Pelino has been making them since 1783. Based in Sulmona, a town famous for its confectionery, the family-run company has spent more than two centuries perfecting these little sweets.

Inside the beautiful powder-blue box are traditional Italian confetti: almonds coated in a smooth, crisp white sugar shell. A simple combination, but one that relies on getting the balance between the almond and its delicate coating just right.

Traditionally given at Italian weddings, christenings and other celebrations, sugared almonds are also rather lovely enjoyed with an afternoon coffee or shared after dinner. The vintage-style packaging, with its ornate lettering and little window revealing the almonds inside, makes them particularly nice to give as a gift.
