Becksöndergaard Hot Fudge Brown Rib Bonnet Beanie

The Becksöndergaard Rib Bonnet Beanie has the prettiest pointelle knit, with tiny openwork stitches creating a delicate pattern across the whole bonnet. It gives the knit a lovely texture and lightness, and makes this feel quite different from a standard winter hat.

The bonnet shape sits close around the head and comes down over the ears, finished with a wide ribbed edge that gives it a little more structure. Then there are the ties – long, skinny and slightly exaggerated, which I think are probably my favourite part. Knot them loosely under the chin or just leave them hanging.

There’s something charmingly old-fashioned about the shape, especially with that fine pointelle pattern, but the proportions stop it feeling overly traditional. Those extra-long ties make a big difference.

It’s soft and warm, but still feels quite delicate rather than chunky, so it’s an easy one to wear from the first properly chilly days right through winter. A really lovely piece of knitwear in miniature, and such a good shape on.
