Konges Sløjd Kitty Perla Hand Bag

The handbag version of the Kitty Perla Cross Body Bag is bigger, boxier and somehow makes the beaded cat even better.

Made from rows of translucent dusty pink beads, the whole bag has that wonderfully old-fashioned beaded-handbag feel, only with an enormous cat worked into the front. Chocolate brown beads make up the face and paws, with pale yellow eyes and a little blue bow — all built directly into the beadwork rather than printed on top.

Two short handles make this one properly handbag-shaped, with enough room inside for the collection of tiny toys, hair clips, stones, snacks and completely inexplicable objects that children insist on taking everywhere. The open beadwork also means you can catch glimpses of whatever has been stashed inside.

It’s definitely a children’s bag, but not in the usual sparkly-pink-princess sense. The slightly smoky pink, brown and blue colour combination is so good, and the chunky beading makes it feel like a miniature version of something you might find in a vintage shop.
